Site Analytics

*And a little bit of privacy policy.

If you use an adblocker this page will probably be blank. Disable it. Or don't. Whatever.

I collect analytics on this site, but it is very high level and very private. As a matter of principle I have 0 interest in embedding Google-anything into this website. The last thing we need in this world is fucking evilcorp tracking more user data to sell to advertisers and government spy agencies.

You can see the exact data I see below.

Powered by Plausible Analytics

I use MANAGED Plausible Analytics for analytics.Managed means that I pay $10/month for them to host the service for me, and it also means the data lives on their servers.

I use plausible for the following reasons:

  • Plausible is open source. It is well written and I could validate everything (at least from a code perspective) that they claimed in their company manifesto - ie the data is yours and wont be sold to evilcorp.
  • I want to financially support open source software. I am a great beneficiary of it and for the price of 2 coffees a month I'm happy to support the creators of this financially.
  • Elixir and BEAM OTP (the Erlang and Elixir Runtime) are beautiful pieces of software. Dynamic programming is a fools errand, and the only things that get it correct besides LISP is Erlang. Plausible is built in Elixir and runs on BEAM.
  • I want to do my own tiny part in the technosphere to promote the above 3 points.
